What we're building

Avana began as a private event and retreat venue. What it's becoming is something more permanent: a nature-based wellness hub - a place where people can come not just for a single experience, but again and again, as part of a life lived more fully.

Weekend immersives. Week-long stays. Movement, breathwork, fire cooking, river swimming, community. A model that runs consistently, grows a loyal community, and serves the growing number of people who are ready for something real.

The Byron hinterland is one of the most sought-after wellness destinations in the Southern Hemisphere. Demand is not the question. The infrastructure is built. The programming is live. We are in the early stages of a transition from occasional private hire to a thriving, year-round hub.

Who is behind this

Alex Southcombe has spent the better part of a decade bringing people into transformative experiences in nature - from expedition hosting in Africa, the Amazon and Fiji, to assisting retreats with Wim Hof across Europe and Australia.

He built this property with his family, by hand, with a clear vision: a permanent home for the deep connection to self and other when we are stripped of distractions, put in nature, moved, and held in community.

Four years in, the land is undeniable, the model is proven, and the moment to scale has arrived.
